Food was absolutely delicious. The owners were very nice and friendly. I would highly recommend this place anytime. Side note( it was cold outside still so the owner offered us blankets to keep warm). Enjoy this place.

The Best Homemade Black-forest Cake - We read the positive reviews on Google and went to Cuckoo’s Nest for some Black Forest Cake but when we reached it was completely sold out. The family running the place was very nice and friendly. They felt bad that we came so far and that they could not offer us any. They mentioned that the next cake was being prepared and that it would take another hour or so. We decided to have some snacks for our kids and then spend some time in the open air museum just beside. It started raining soon and so we rushed back to this place and were glad to find the cake was prepared. And oh boy, it was the best and freshest Black Forest cake we had in our whole trip. We were so impressed that we returned back the next day on our way back to Frankfurt.

Were in the Zipline Park Hirschgrund, briefly googled where there was something delicious to eat ... 11 km that are worthwhile. And the food is mega ..... You also have to try the Black Forest Cake ... Not cheap but suitable for the quality and taste. Very friendly owner couple !!! We will be back.

Nice cafe with the most friendly people I've met. The food, ice cream & beer were good, it's outside the open air museum and sits right on the river. Stop by if you're in the area, you'll enjoy it.

Very nice and clean snack bar with a lovingly designed small beer garden, which invites you to linger. The homemade Black Forest cake is excellent and, in combination with the fresh coffee, absolutely recommendable. All dishes are freshly prepared and the price-performance ratio is perfectly fine. In the associated souvenir shop there is something for every taste, whether for a small or large budget 😉. The owners and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. My wife and I felt very comfortable here and would be happy to come back. The set picture speak for themselves!

Super nice, cozy beer garden! Very nice owner and meeeeeega delicious food !! We were all thrilled with the freshly made burgers which were just unbelievably delicious !! And the homemade lemonade was also super tasty and refreshing! Very, very recommendable!

Cafe and food were very good!

Tried to stop here twice. Was told the cake would not be ready for another hour each time. Came back after an hour the second time and told the cake needed another 45 minutes. Seems like you have to be lucky to actually get cake from here.

Fresh Homemade Black forest cake. This place is a beauty. We wanted to taste the real home made black Forest cake. By the time we arrived (18:15) they were sold out and have no more cake left. Looking at us being disappointed, the Cuckoo's Nest team asked if we have time and can wait for 20 minutes so that they can make us one. The wait was worth. Never had so yummy and fresh Black forest cake. The cherries, the cream and all melted in freshness, tasted the best ever. A beautiful place, decorative and the ambience was so good. If you want to try the true black forest cake, you should be here

I don't know if a Korean is coming, but the boss asked me to write it in Korean and I write it in Korean! I had a hamburger and a black forest cake, but it was okay~ Black Forest Cake is highly recommended.

Discovered by accident, enthusiastic about the large selection of dishes and drinks. The packaging is very environmentally friendly, for which there is an extra thumbs up! We would like to come again!!

Touring through Black Forest we stopped for the heritage park and found the Cuckoo's Nest. Great ice cream, after out tour in the park we had lunch and it was a pleasant surprise. I don't normally get that good a food in a "gift shop" but turns out the owners have a long history in the food and beverage industry. Traveled the world and have returned to the family business. It's a great stop for the two attractions there and the restaurant and they stock some different souvenirs. Sure they sell the clocks but they got some other neat stuff also.

Schnitzel with fries we have tasted there were a few tomatoes and two dips (ketchup + garlic) in addition a cup of cream sauce with mushrooms, Schnitzel was TK but all in all, really delicious

This place has great food and drinks. However what makes this location special is the family that runs it! We had the pleasure of spending time with them in August during our vacation. We ordered food (and a slice of homemade black forest cake) when the sky opened up and began downpouring. Then it began to hail! The family was so concerned for the guests that we were all invited to enter their shop to continue our delicious meal. Great refreshments and wonderful people. Highly recommended.

Nice place at the river and nice ambience. A bit like a vacation, so you do not notice the parking lot anymore. Very friendly welcome, delicious food, the Black Forest cake is recommended. The only criticism is the "dishes". I would like to have less disposable.

Lovely cafe & shop! Stopped by after my mum told me how great this place was and she was so right! Lovely staff used to live in australia so we had a bit of a chat after lunch when I went to order some of the black forest cake they make. The store they run shouldn't be underestimated though, the cuckoo clock wall they've got set-up is fantastic and you can really get all sorts of neat stuff there, I bought a great little rotary tealight If I'm ever in the area again I'm stopping by for sure!

Some of the most amazing people ever! Victor and Astrid were absolutely wonderful to talk with - also they have the best ice cream selection and prices in their gift shop! I would recommend going in to meet both of the and don’t forget to ask for the extra cream on your ice-cream!

I came here today for a nice Sunday to have a nice day. When I left the parking lot I thought I was eating something with my family. I was served very rude when I asked if there are other sauces for turkey Schnitzel I got in response that they would not be a restaurant, when my meal was ready I asked for cutlery as an answer came they have already got one well also have fingers Luckily. The food was ok even if it comes from the microwave

We wanted to order hot dogs yesterday, because we thought they cost 1 euro. When we went to order the lady behind the bar was very unfriendly .. She asked with an angry tone: "Have you read the sign?". To which we simply said "yes". "No, you don't. It says that the hot dog costs 1 euro when you buy a drink, so that 9 euros of you is not enough." Nothing wrong with that, but could not have done this in a more friendly tone? If she had done that, we would probably have picked up some hot dogs. We finally walked a lot further and bought some delicious bratwurst somewhere else.

I have been to Germany for 5 years and have eaten the most authentic Black Forest cake. It is fresh and handmade every day. The waiters are very enthusiastic and there is no problem in English communication. It's worth taking a look at the cake.

We stopped in and had the black forest cake 10/10 if your passing I would highly recommend you stop and try it.It is freshly made in the shop by the owner and all I can say is WOW what a delight

You have to go here on your way through Germwny. The hotdogs were delicious, and they have these monster freak shakes that were absolutely the best things ever. The proportion is so much, the icecream amazing, m&ms, oreos, a hand-made cornetto pressed in it, and the milkshake ice ice cold. They have cool water spraying around the outside from the roof, so it was perfect for this very hot day. I was in my happy place here.

Not prone to writing review normally, but some friends recommended we stop by this place on our way driving to Italy. In short, the best home made black forest gateaux you will ever taste and a lovely meal by the river, served by Victor and Astrid the owners. Small family business that obviously puts quality and service before numbers. Kids loved the toboggan run as well! See you next year hopefully!

I visited this place with my parents today (14.06.2019), bought a hot dog and some fried potatoes from them and took a sit at their place outdoor. My mother got a bottle of milk from her bag to have some drink, but a woman who had served us (probably the owner), told us in a rude way that we are not allowed to drink milk there and asked us to leave immediately her restaurant and “have a picnic” at another place. We felt like we had committed a crime or something like that. It was not a big deal, just a bottle of milk. As we were walking away, this woman started to follow us. She was shouting and yelling at us in German. Her behavior was very aggressive. Highly likely she was swearing and trying to insult us, but we didn’t understand her and just kept ignoring her. Tourists should not be treated like this. I would recommend to stay away from this place and avoid buying anything from them.

Great place to eat before entering the Black Forest Open Air Museum. Much better than the food court outside the museum which is crowded and with lots of sun. Just outside the parking, great food, kind service by Victor & Astrid, the owners, wide variety of souvenirs and private shaded and beautifully decorated garden to sit and eat.

One of best places to buy black forest honey and you can find many souvenirs to buy beside the small cafe. The owner of the place was kind enough to explain to us the differences between the types of honey. We will gladly come back again 😊 I highly recommend 👍🏻

Stopped at this place (again) on the way to Lake Konstanz. The staff were so friendly and it had a great terrace right next to the river! Absolutely loved all the souvenirs: they were unique to any other store in the area and great to bring home to Australia. The food was also cheap and yummy. I highly recommend the homemade blackforest cake!! :)

Is the best food around. The chicken and meatballs are delicious and the best option in the menu. I really liked the food, it was the best food I’ve had in this trip.

I was very happy to meet the owners of this place. They are the most helpful, welcoming and friendly shop owners they can be. I bought a lovely cuckooclock from there which is a dear memory from my visit to the Black Forest. We also bought traditional Black Forest flutes, black forest honey, black forest themed magnets, and lots and lots of ice cream for everyone. I highly recommend this place.
